Employers who are registered with CITB & eligible for grant can apply for funding to support their training, however, there have been many changes during the past months, for SME’s & large companies.
From 1 April 2026, access to CITB funding will depend on the size of the organisation, with changes to how Employer Networks operate.
For micro to medium employers, funding will still be available through Employer Networks, with:
🔹 50% match funding or fixed contributions for health & safety training
🔹 Annual caps based on size:
• Micro – £1,500
• Small – £2,000
• Medium – £4,500
For large employers, Employer Network funding will no longer apply. Instead, a new Large Employer Fund will provide up to £18,000 per year to support training through a structured plan.
All employers can still access additional support, including:
Apprenticeship grants
Travel to Train
Qualification and short course grants
Industry Impact Fund
For SME’s, short course training is no longer supported through the grants scheme, other than scaffolding, plant operations and other specialist courses such as IPAF. Support is now delivered exclusively via the CITB Employer Networks.
CITB qualification grants – payable on achieving certain qualifications such as NVQ’s although level 7 is no longer supported
Apprentice grants and Travel to Train grants are still supported
